Steve Perry was not just the frontman of Journey. He's also the composer/songwriter of Journey's songs. How can Arnel Pineda beat that?

Right now, Arnel is considered as a "replacement" singer who sings and sounds like Steve Perry.....UNLESS the next Journey album will feature some compositions of Arnel and he will get to sing a style different from Steve Perry but still consistent with Journey's sound.....

Lisod man gud pulihan ang front man specially if he is considered the leader and face of the band. For example, when Queen had a new lead singer, wala dyud mo click ang ilang new songs. Pero naa man dyud exceptions, like when Van Halen clicked with Sammy Hagar. I think Journey would be better off if they allow some of Arnel's compositions (assuming he has some) in their next album, and for him to sing not like a Steve Perry clone. If not, then they will stop evolving as artists.

I just hope that people won't misinterpret this discussion as trying to bring down Arnel Pineda or another one of those typical Filipino crab mentality....this should be about the singing qualities of Steve and Arnel, the music of Journey, as well as their individual futures as constantly evolving artists. Arnel is obviously a talented singer, but he needs to develop his own persona and emerge as a true artist and not just as replacement to Steve......
