Question Fender Strat Experts: How Do I Get Rid of the Hissing Sound?

There's a hissing sound when i don't touch the strings or the bridge but it's gone when i touch them or when i play the guitar. Nganu man ni? Unya mu kusog ang hiss kung isaka ang volume.

I also tried my ibanez(CH1,CH2 Humbuckers) plugged on the same amp(Marshall MG30DFX) but silent ra man

check the circuit of your guitar if it's properly grounded. you can check the fender's website or pickups website such as DiMarzio.com, seymor duncan, etc for the circuit. you can also try to add a 220pF capacitor across the guitar's output. by the way, humbuckers are hum cancelling pickups so it's less noisy than single coils.

Bago rajud ni naku gi sprayhan ug wd40 ang pots niya kay gahi na jud lisuon ang volume pot. Pero i think naa najud ni cya hissing sound way before pajud ni naku gi sprayhan. Asa man inyuha bai? Ako nya ni ipatanaw nimu if persistent jud cya. Ingon man ang electrician nga nag spray ani nga obserbahan sa daw kay basin tungod kay basin wala pa ni dry up ang wd40 sa sulod. Naa ka anang capacitor nga imu gi ingon if necessary?

wd40 is a lubricant. i think you need a contact cleaner for dirty, scratchy pots, not a lubricant.

mao lagi brad. dakoa na naku ug sala ani oi. Gi plug ra ni naku dretso sa amp w/out any effects. Unsaon man nga mao mansad ang gi pangita sa electrician - wd40 man jud & he even had one sa iya bag apparently one of his repair tools. I suspect dli ni mao ang cause sad.

sounds like na grounded imong guitar. check lang with a guitar expert. na samotan pa dyud na for sure sa WD40. dili ra man na ang circuitry sa pickup. also check the wiring sa tone and volumes as well as sa output wiring.

usahay masulod dyud ang moisture sa circuitry, specially if outdoors ang gig or practice and naguwan. if you use the guitar outdoors during a rainy day then make it a habit to spray contact cleaner afterwards.
