ataka anang master oi...sige lang my apprentice.....
assuming OK ang body, straight ang neck, ok ang frets and fingerboard, and you don't need to replace the saddle, the following would be the basic expenses: 1. Pickups - Alnicos at Salonga would start at 4T, while cheap Korean and China-made single coils starts at 400. 2. Selector switch- slide or toggle, around 120 (naay slide selector switch sa Gaisano Tabunok) 3. Tone and volume controls - around 120 each 4. Graphite nut - 100 at Edz 5. electronics installation - at least 1T, mas maayo kung mo set-up dyud og guitar and not just an ordinary electrician. 6. if you want to replace the tuning knobs, a straight six set will cost around 400 while ang 3x3 sets will be about the same price. Naay mga tuning heads nga tag 2T sa JB's, mga Grover imitations, while Edz also has the half-moon imitations at 850. 7. if you want a customized paint job, an automotive-finish will cost you at least 2.5T. make sure you tell the painter to strip the old paint and not just paint over it kay ma tak-tak ra na ang new paint. restain the fingerboard. NEVER PAINT THE FINGERBOARD. what you will get is a customized guitar using an old body and neck. nindot man ni himuon nga project guitar, something that hinay-hinayon og trabaho, kanang unayon dyud nimo. Good idea for a second guitar. Fulfilling pud kaayo inig human. Budget lang og the best pick-ups you can afford. |

yup, if you will install your preferred hardwares, then mo dako-dako dyud ang gasto. Brand new starter or entry level branded guitars like Squire, Epiphone, Ibanez, and Washburn will also have MIK or MIC electronics and hardwares on it. Same with locally made guitars. With a "project guitar", you get to choose the electronics and hardwares that you want or can afford.
Pag-inspect nako gahapon sa SG body, I noticed that the body was solid, dili gipapilit, and the neck was also solid. The neck had an adjustable truss rod and the hardwares were in good condition. Ang electronics lang maoy angay nang ilisan. Later in the afternoon, I saw Alnico minihumbuckers at Salonga, that would fit nicely sa SG body but you can also order original Gibson humbuckers abroad for roughly the same cost. if naa kay relative sa gawas nga maka palit for you unya ipadala diri then mas maayo. Costing around 5T, putting 2 humbuckers and installing new electronics (selector switch, tone and volume controls and wirings) would cost around 15T. expensive, YES. pero you will have top of the line pickups. as for the painting job, I recently saw pictures of Eric Clapton's psychedellic "the FOOL" SG that he used when he was still part of the Byrds. nindot kaayo sundon.....BTW, SG necks are slightly wider than Strats, so it's better for those with fat fingers. anyway, dili man ko sure nga mo dayun ko sa SG "project guitar" nga plano nako kay wala pa dyud koy budget. So if naay maka-una og palit sa SG body, okay ra nako. Mao bitaw nga mo participate ta ani nga thread so that we can give options to our fellow musicians and istoryans..... |

Q lang para sa mga gitarista: naa pa bai chance mubalik ang "bow" sa neck for an old cheap stratocaster imitation?(forgot the model) adjusted ko na ni sa una, unya gigamit sa ako maguwang pero dugay na diay wala nya magamit and wala siya strings. d na man gud mo "bow" no matter insaun adjust sa truss rod. sangit jud ang strings 1/2/3 sa frets 5-9. cant raise nut/saddle/bridge kay mutaas napud ang action nya...was planning to make this guitar a "project" unta if maulian pa ni ang neck.
currently using .10 guage strings. also advice, pwede i compile ang name and location aning mga surplus na tindahan sa 1st page aron saun ra nato pangitaon? TY mga musician

most probable reason would be the wood nga gigamit sa neck wala ma kiln-dried. Ang process man gud ana is to leave just a certain amount of moisture sa kahoy aron mo allow og gamay nga movement or expansion sa kahoy. Wood that is too dry will cause it to be brittle and dali ma buak, while too much moisture mo cause og too much movement (meaning kung naa sa init nga lugar, mo expand gamay ang kahoy or mo contract kung naa sa bugnaw). This is the reason why you get "bow" and gagmay nga cracks, which can also cause the paint job to crack.
That is also the reason why I always handcarry my guitars inside the plane when I travel kay bisan naa na sulod sa hardcase unya imong gi check-in nga luggage, the difference in temperature sa baggage compartment will have an effect on the wood. Mao nang daghan kaayo mong ma dunggan nga istorya nga ang mga gitara diri nga dad-on sa gawas mang-liki inig abot didto. especially ang mga guitara nato nga nangka ang top. It's very hard to get a balanced moisture level sa wood from fruit-bearing trees. Kung dili na dyud madala sa truss rod adjustment, then pailis na lang og neck. Daghan man ang mo himo sa opon, pero check the cost. Basin na hinuon much cheaper kung mo palit ka og new guitar. sanding at the frets won't make a difference nor changing the fingerboard. Lisod na kung ang kahoy maoy problema. Maybe mo consider ka buying another guitar body so you can combine the neck and the body. Pero this is expensive. A "guitar project" is a project aron maka assemble ka sa gusto nimo - it is not a project aron maka menos ka og gasto. Mas maayo kung naa na kay body and neck then electronics and finish na lang ang imong gastosan..... |
