(Yes, there's a story during WWII that low-flying Russian(??) planes dropped Russian soldiers and/or goods without parachutes (because they thought snow was soft and it wouldn't hurt during landing). Of course, the goods were destroyed. As for the soldiers..

putting aside lulziness, one of the many lines in Kaiji that might leave an impression to its viewers:
