Thanks Ms. Beau and Charmz. I think this is a government case. I hope they will take care of these two kids and should be a priority for the local government. I hope they will also find qualified doctors who will avail of their services for free.

Mai,

DSWD has been supporting the twins for almost a year now and help from any private sector will be highly appreciated. Aside from the twins they have to allocate their budget to their other programs (home for the babies, home for the girls, home for the boys, etc.). They are doing their best to give what they can to the twins.

mai it is soooo different here man gud than in the US.... kahit na sabihin pa natin role ng govt yan to take care of the twins... walang ganun kalaki na money ang govt for long-term care. ang hirap din... daming kurakot sa govt.... NAKAKAINISSSSS

dapat silang mga corrupt officials ang i-conjoin!!!! BWAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA

lumalabas na naman retractable sungay ko...hehehehehe kung puwede lang ba kulamin..... ay may kilala ako dito istorya marunong mangulam! hahahahaha. (u know who u are *wink*)

Well we can only do what we can but personally for me, i would prefer that any monies i donate go to Istoryan activities taking on something as enormous as that is just way beyond me. That is my honest frank answer. I'm just being realistic. Thank you.

Mai,

we are not taking on the whole weight of the responsibility. we are just giving what we can to be of help. a little help can go a long way.

Thanks for your support on our activities.

I was a little disaapointed with Ms. Beau's posting re not being able to see the twins kesyo you have to go through the director and need permission from DSWD. Here's my point, if I am a possible contributor/donor and is concerned and would like to see the twins after all it is a public case and they should not be hidden from interested and concerned persons willing to donate but with the way they are handling this case in private when its public and they're trying to solicit help from public donors doesn't seem right. With the way they are hiding the twins and by appointment basis, i would be very skeptical and I would think that whatever monies donated might not even be going to the twins they can always say by appointment only and fix the twins nicely and get them ready neatly before you visit them but what is behind closed doors? No. They took on that responsibility and therefore what is needed is not money for diapers and toys they need surgery that is their priority now kay magdaku na ang mga twins. DSWD should have connections to agencies and foundations who can help the twins. In my case, its minus points for them if they tell possible donors you cannot see the twins. I should know where my money is spent and where its going too and if that is how they are, i will not donate at all. Thanks Galadriel.

@Mother Dee, tinood na daku ra kaayo difference sa government in the US compared sa Philippines. Here the government helps the people. The people ang mangayo sa gobyerno ug tabang dili ang gobyerno ang mangayo sa mga tao ug tabang. Its quite the opposite.

I guess it's just velez hospital putting those rules in place, siguro for security reasons (re visit) and record-keeping or inventory (re donations). the nursing supervisor did say that the hospital is not sponsoring the twins, they are just the hospital taking them in for care as one of the twins needs the shunt and oxygen (they will be operated on once that twin's condition is stable enough.)

i guess if there was a dswd personnel at the time of our visit (which was late afternoon, christmas day hehe) we would have been allowed to see the twins. and if dr poblete (hospital director) was there too i believe we would have been allowed. mga nurses and the nursing supervisor ra man gud ang naa didto, mao siguro to...following orders lang sad sila.

i will be getting in touch with ms colis mismo and will ask about those visiting rules, yes. you have a point sad jud, mai. since they're asking for public support, then access to the recipients should not be difficult as long as order and security are ensured.

don't worry, we'll have a mutually-satisfying point of agreement here. i know that dswd would always appreciate help. we'll just let them know of our side too. will let you know of any updates from my side.

There are reasons why visiting is restricted... one of them is privacy for the twins and their family. If they wouldn't put that in place, the twins will become a "roadshow spectacle"... come one, come all... conjoined twins in the flesh! I hope you guys get what I mean. I believe that DSWD is doing what is right for the twins.
