@ therealmacoy

hello bro. as far as reviews concern, third party lens occasionally has "a bit" lesser iq. that is in terms of corner sharpness, chromatic aberration/purple fringing, resolution, and distortion. although that "a bit" i am describing to is applicable to those very keen and meticulous ones since i have tried that tamron 18-270mm in actual lately and its indeed great in iq.

Chip thanks for helping with explanation...

Anyway I won't say much, the fact its a NIKKOR lens should do it. Its ok to have third party lenses as they are adequate but for Nikon Oficionados , There's no going back from a NIKKOR lens ... once you use one ull see what I mean

As for Last Price mao na na 28k kay per first post spent a fortune with this lens and barely used, originally posted higher, then down to 28k you can test unit just give me a time and place, sorry no trade ins need cash ..

Tamron AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) Macro

This one is selling at 27K-28K brand new which is just about the same price as yours... but i really want a nikkor instead of a third party lens.

Please PM your last price and if in case i lean towards Nikkor, can i test your unit? Does it have warranty? Will you accept trade plus cash?

@Chip:

I think some reviews rate this particular TAMMY as better than the NIKKOR AF-S 18-200mm VR II (Which is the latest and better version the TS item).

AF 18-270mm f/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical (IF) MACRO for Nikon: Hands-on review - ClubSNAP Photography Forums
Despite its short-comings and pitfalls of being a slow lens with slow indecisive AF, IMO, the extra range and much better VC outweighs the flaws. I was more decisive in getting this TAMRON 18-270 VC than when deciding on getting the Nikon AF-S 18-200 VR II during its debut (which I never bought eventually). Dpreview's lens review recommended this lens while the Nikon AF-S 18-200 VR II was recommended with reservations. A look at their test charts shows that on paper, the TAMRON is tad sharper than the Nikon's. Nevertheless, the Nikon still wins by having a SWM. This lens is not for serious work but sure is a remarkable walkabout, travel and all-in-one lens. TAMRON calls this lens "The Ultimate All-In-One Zoom: Longest, Steadiest Lens On Earth", I have to agree with them on that.

This is why i'm asking the TS if based on his experience with this lens, what other notable advantages has he experienced with his lens... I really wanna hear personal and first-hand experiences of people who owns the lens rather than read them on reviews. If possible, i want to experience them first-hand before buying...

I use nikon too... but i've also tried and used Tamron and Sigma's, and based on my personal opinion, their 'performance-per-cost' when compared with Nikkors and Canon is way better. Nikkors and Canons' just gives you that reassuring feeling of compatibility.

also, with regards to the price, I perfectly understand your dilemna. You bought it at a very expensive price and you cannot just drop the cost.

Anyway, why are you selling this lens when you have such a high regard for its versatility?

@ therealmacoy

then its not included in the "occasionally" i have posted above.

dpreview says the tamron is soft at widest angle compared nikkor's. its only in the mid-range it outperforms. i think dp leans towards tammy due to its performance over value. if they say swm is a plus in nikkor's then tammy did a quiet and fast focusing as well in the edge-to-edge zoom range when i tested it.

anyway, tammy as i have tried it(my friend owns it), aside from good iq, has awesome reach(its new to its kind though) for an all-round-walk-around lens.

pardon for the a bit of ot ts.

On Price I'm glad you understand, and im not in a hurry to sell it ... but willing to let go with final price placed.

As for reason .. well id hate to say it but like most photographers ... here's the reason 70/200 2.8, 12/24 F4 or 14/24 2.8 ....

Hope this helps
