Hey, its not a stupid question, good one actually.
sliced? proper way to eat a american size burger is put your palm on the top bun and slowly swash the bun down so it will fit in your mouth.... thats how you eat a double double in IN and OUt or a six dollar burger in Carl's Jr.....heart attack fast food.

Wow Crinks what a dinner , ouchy on the wallet.

---------------------------------------------

Primal, anything goes, I like my burger sliced because at times when you push it down with your hand mayonnaise or ketchup squirt out, or juices from patty make my bread soggy. But whatever floats anyones boat I dont even think a right or wrong way to eat a burger.

@Primal: i'd like to try slicing and pressing it... but i dunno... i think KE has a point too... it's scary. hahaha... ketchup stains are quite hard to get rid of.

@KE: yeah... but my visitors then don't mind spending thousands for a meal as long as it's worth it. like i mentioned, i wasn't sure if i liked what i was eating. the fish for me was kind of bland, the lobster didn't taste like so but i liked some of the shellfish they ordered. hahaha... but, the ambiance, the starry sky and the great company, i'd say they liked it.

i would probably blame it on the champagne and white wine but then i could barely remember what we ate. what i do remember is that we were looking at fish and lobsters swimming in their little aquariums and after a few minutes, they were on our tables looking like they died a quick death.

now i've got visitors arriving in a few weeks. so, i'm still not sure if i'd recommend the restaurant again.

thanks for the review....now I know which restaurant to avoid when I go back there.
thats almost a round trip ticket to LA and back. Hope you didn't pay for it.

bitaw noh... maybe we can go back and try other items on the menu... maybe ones that don't beg for mercy as they swim inside the tanks. hahaha...

i also liked the breakfasts at Acqua. that one, i only have praises for.

@Primal: hahaha... exactly. but ey, maybe you'd like it. i don't exactly have exquisite taste, you know. i'm a commoner who gets less than frequent chances of dining at restaurants like that.

chika-an @ Lahug

lemme tell you guys what happened.

we ordered the following:

2 baked scallops
1 tangigue, grilled
1 garlic rice
1 plain rice
1 bottled water
1 regular coke in can

my friend and i wanted to eat at golden cowrie but parking was full so we opted for the one across the street, which, to our experience, is just as great. sometimes, even better.

waited for a table, finally got one, took a quick look at the menu, told my friend that i'd like tangigue and water and rice so she can order for both of us. after that, i rushed to the little girls' room. i didn't know what she actually ended up ordering.

the first to arrive was my bottled water. after that, the waiter asked if we ordered iced tea. we told him, no. regular coke. just regular coke and the bottled water in front of me. after 3 minutes, a supervisor, i think, came to us and asked (again) if we ordered iced tea. and again, we said no. it's coke. C - O - K - E = coke. and after 2 minutes, the notorious Coca-cola can and a gleaming glass with ice finally arrived.

then the scallops came. a big bowl of plain rice, since they have unlimited rice. next is a plate of fish, i wasn't sure what it was, but we started attacking it anyway. i thought it was something my friend ordered. all of a sudden, a waiter came with a plate of filleted fish. we informed him that we didn't order that. my friend said that the only thing lacking is pork sinigang and garlic rice. after about another 6 minutes, sinigang was on the table and yes, we attacked that one as well. my friend didn't touch the plain rice. she was waiting for the garlic rice that's 10 minutes late. so, we again had to call a waiter to tell them something's wrong.

so, the garlic rice came and i started to wonder where my tangigue could be swimming. i asked my friend. she didn't know what tangigue actually looked like (haha) so she asked the waiter what the fish was. what were we eating?? turned out to be grilled kitong (sakto sfeling?). hahaha... and just about the same time, my beloved grilled tangigue arrived. we were already full. so we told the waiter, we don't need it anymore since we ate the fish they served, which we never ordered. hahaha...

it was so weird. so we asked for the bill, reviewed it thoroughly, and glad that only the things we consumed was printed on it.

we were about to leave, but just couldn't resist wondering what happened? why the screw up. it was a first "bad" experience at chika-an. at the door, was the supervisor who earlier we had to educate regarding the difference between Coke and iced tea. hahaha... so, we asked her. she apologized. we found out, that the table we occupied was supposedly for a group of 5 who decided to move to another table. their orders were already taken and was assigned to our table, thus the confusion.

ang ako lang jud, i wish they told us sooner! what if we went home without ever asking? what if we blacklisted that restaurant simply because they didn't tell us what happened? makasabot ra baya ta if mao to ang nahitabo... hahaha... mao na. mao na. pangutana jud. otherwise, ma blacklist ang imo fave resto. hehehe...

The bento came with two pieces of Ebi Tempura, some sauteed bean sprouts, beef teriyaki and a good measure of rice. We started gorging on the bean sprouts when my wife suddenly told me to stop eating. She then pointed out the hair in the bean sprouts. She immediately called the attention of the waitress near our table and was told that it would be replaced, however, my wife opted to call for the supervisor. The supervisor came, probably already briefed by the waitress with the situation, he told wifey that it will be replaced. Hearing stories of how some chefs and servers treat complaining customers, wifey asked that the previous plate remain until the new one is served.

Luckily, my Salmon and Mayo Genku arrived. I love sushi and can gorge on loads of sashimi. However, I don't like being served sushi that is bigger than a bite size and this genku was as such. The ramen was not good either. The broth was obviously new as the flavor of the beef has not embedded itself in the broth (yes, I am one of those that believe that a good ramen must have good broth), but what can you expect from a fastfood resto.

rating: 2/5
