Siknoy Noodles
Near Cebu Doctor's University

We arrived late for the dinner. The food was already ordered and all we had to do was wait for it to be served Mommy D' and Mommy Gwyn ordered for all of us. We had Shrimps, Patatim, Pancit, fried rice and Soup (mommy d' and mommy gwyn, help me out here on the names of the dishes...hehehe). The food arrived just on time for our hungry tummies The place does not have any airs or pretensions, it is so simple, like a typical hangout for students out for a very affordable meal. The meal was really SWAK sa budget...hehehe...P300 per head (i think this is because we ordered for a second plate of shrimps). The place is quite cozy and clean, we stayed long and enjoyed the place.

Food and price - 5/5 very affordable and very delicious
Place - 3.5/5 quite out of the way, if you are not familiar with the place you might get lost. we almost did.
service - 5/5 prompt

D'Jungle in Sta. Fe, Bantayan, grabe ang food and iced tea, gabaha unya lami pa jud...i wrote a review but is not allowed to repost it anywhere so heres a link:

http://www.reviewstream.com/reviews/?p=30894

ug ang sunod kay from my blog(cebuanotourist.blogspot.com):

While wandering around trying to find good dinner at Sta. Fe in Bantayan Island, Cebu, Philippines, my team came across a cluster of eat-all-you-can restaurants not far from the Sta. Fe Public Market. There was this European restaurant, a Portuguese restaurant and right across it was D'Jungle eat-all-you-can which features Filipino cuisine and Mongolian Barbecue. Priced at a reasonable Php 190, we feasted on grilled fish, grilled chicken, grilled pork, mongolian barbecue, chopsuey, potato salad, kinilaw na lato, ripe mangoes, fish escabeche, pancakes, waffles, fried rice and calamari, that went along with bottomless red iced tea. The next time you chance upon Bantayan Island, you know where to find one of the finest restaurants in the island and that's at D'Jungle.

(the inside - where we had dinner, our table was the one near the aircon. the sliding glass doors where closed making the space more confined)

I called for a reservation and the one who answered was very accommodating and very polite. The place looked very homey. Courteous staff and very attentive. They had eat all you can on steak for that night (thursday) for P600+. If you want it ala carte the Jimmy's Steak is P800. We did not get the steak. We ordered the Herbed chicked and the canalones instead. The canalones is a dish wherein pieces of chicken are wrapped in pasta or some sort of big noodle and smothered with cheese. I loved the it The herbed chicken had some peppercorns and a taste of sweetness. The garlic rice that we paired with it was also yummy. We were not able to savor the dessert that the place had to offer, the kitchen closed quite early (IMHO around 10pm) We left the place at around 11pm. the place was not crowded, but it was quite noisy though. due to the small space (we stayed inside) the other table had a very hearty conversation so the result is that the whole place seemed to reverberate.

food - 4 - we were not able to have our dessert.
place - 3.5 - if a lot of people are inside and are having a hearty conversation, you will find it hard to hear each other talking.
service - 5 - very courteous staff
price - 4 - for what we ordered, price range per person is around P300. if you get the eat all you can steak price range will be around P700+.
overall - 4/5 - we plan to come back and stay on the terrace side instead of inside. we will be trying the steak and the dessert.
but overall, affordable ra pud sila there?ü

PINO
Lahug, Near JY Square

First taste of Pino. My parents, bro and I were looking for a place that was still open for a late dinner (@ 9:30PM). I heard that the food at Pino was delicious so I suggested we go there. I knew it was a one of those upscale restos where diners tend to dress up but i didn't tell my family this. My bro was wearing shorts, a shirt and slippers. My dad sported his old denim jeans with some tears near the legs. Mom and I were just a tad more decent looking that night. (Surprise! Abi nako tuk-on ko nila pagkita nila sa place) Nevertheless, we went into the restaurant with heads high. I expected the staff to treat us differently--- flatly not as good as their well-dressed diners--- but I was pleasantly surprised that they served us well, even in our get-up.

Food:

Appetizer: They give a complementary starter set of spicy bolinao (small anchovies?), pickled green mangos & ampalaya. Okay to munch on while waiting (about 10mins).
Baked scallops @ P180 (8 pieces) > Excellent! I like the simple presentation of the scallop shells placed on top of a "bed of salt".
Lengua Estofado @ P200++ > Wide strips of ox tripe in tomato sauce. They cooked it in a caldereta-like way. We didn't like it that much... tasted like something you get from carenderias (sa carenderia tag-25 ra cguro to)
Pancit Palabok @ P200++ > Disappointing. They used noodles that was used for pancit malabon instead of palabok and to my further dismay, the recados tasted like minced-up sardines mixed with egg. The chicharon used was noticeably old stock (not crunchy and a bit discolored).
Lumpia sa Ubod @ P90 They redeemed themselves quite a bit on this. It was good but not something I would come back for.
Crispy Pata - found it too steep for the budget, opted to skip this and splurge on dessert (at another establishment) instead.

Generally, portions are good for 2-4 persons which is a good thing because we got to try all the dishes.

Ambiance: The restaurant/mansion has an old and alta Filipino-Spanish aura -very elegant and detailed. The lighting in this mansion is also excellent.
A bit off was their bar on the side... it may have been another establishment (or a sister company) though. It was modern & ultrahip which isn't bad at all, just that it clashed with the general feel of the mansion.

Comfort room (mujer): I could sleep there. It was extremely well-kept with wooden floor planks; plus a Cleopatra *\__/* chair on one side. There was a unique twisting-knob and an interesting hand-shaped bag-hanger also.

Overall Rating:
Food > 2/5
Ambiance > 4/5

I would come back to Pino, if only for more of those great-tasting scallops. c",)
