Default BREAKFAST MENU ---help!

I am really concerned that I am running out of ideas for breakfast. I dont always want to resort to canned goods kay toxic bya yan...ang bulad nakow eh bawal sa parents kong hypertensive.

Anyone got ideas there?

I wanna start with one.... FRENCH TOAST that my son really really loves.

* Sliced bread...the thicker the slice the better. (thickest i found was sa metro ayala nga
bakeshop. mahal lang gali.)
* 2 eggs, condensed milk (to taste) mixed together
* 2T butter and enough oil to panfry ur toast.

slice the bread in half diagonally. dip in the egg mixture. coat both sides well. fry till golden brown. drain on paper towels.

thanks daan for ur recipes.

Why don't you try an egg white omelet? It's the latest craze- specially for people with high cholesterol. You can put in ham, mushroom, sardines, or anything you fancy. And I am sure your parents will love it. Easy on the salt though.

Scrambled Tofu
Recipe created by Rosie Daley
From the show Recipes for Your Heart
Serves 6

Don't worry, egg eaters, you aren't deprived of any flavor here! Have some variety in your breakfasts, alternating between eggs and tofu. This dish is light, well seasoned, and, like eggs, full of protein for get-up-and-go energy. Turmeric is what lends the color and mild flavor to this dish.

INGREDIENTS
16-ounce block firm tofu
3 cloves garlic, peeled and sliced thin (about 1 1/2 tablespoons)
3 tablespoons diced red bell pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3/4 cup sliced green onions, scallions, chives or 1/2 cup minced onion
2 teaspoons soy sauce
Fresh salsa
Corn tortillas
Drain the tofu and crumble it, using clean hands. Sauté the garlic and diced pepper with the olive oil in a medium sauté pan on medium heat, for about 2 minutes. Stir in the crumbled tofu first, then add turmeric, salt, pepper, green onions (scallions, chives or onions) and soy sauce. Cook the tofu for 3 more minutes, stirring occasionally. Serve with salsa and warm corn tortillas.

my kids eat anything that looks and tastes like eggs. they just put the veggies on the side, they don't like bell peppers that much.

the many ways with bread (food i prepare for the kids during school days, days when they don't want rice for breakfast)
- bread broken into bite sized pieces, placed in a bowl and topped with milk and sugar (known as milk toast)
- bread with peanut butter and your choice of jelly (PBJ sandwich)
- Banana Fruit Toast (from mr.breakfast)

(1 serving)Â*

2 slices of bread
1 banana
10 chopped almonds
cinnamon
Toast bread to a light golden brown. Peel the banana, mash it and then spread on toast as if it were butter. Sprinkle chopped almonds on that and then dust with cinnamon. Put the toasts in the toaster oven for a couple of 3 minutes to bring the flavors together. Serve warm.

- mix pesto with parmesan cheese and minced garlic. spread this on the bread and toast.
- spread condensed milk on the bread then toast (homemade biscocho)
- spread butter on the bread then toast (sugar bread)
- sunny side up (soft yellow) paired with bread (my kids dip the bread into the eggyolk and eat the white part later)
- make a pizza, top the bread with ketchup or pizza sauce, grated cheese, and your choice of toppings(hotdogs, bacon, pineapple,)

OK ba ang pizza sa breakfast ? I havent tried it yet though I love toasted bread ( kana hapit na masunog ) with soft scramble eggs , tuna salad , egg salad or chicken salad for breakfast . Yes I forgot the most healthiest of them all :

- GRITS ( shredded cheddar cheese on top )
- OATMEAL ( cinnamon / brown sugar / maple syrup on top )
