i've been married for 13 years and i have been handling our finances for 13 years na din... my husband lets me handle all money matters coz numbers makes him crazy... i've been recording all our income and expenses, from the biggest amount to the smallest (even transpo or photocopy) since day one... just in case he asks where the money goes, i could show him all the records... hehehehehe...

i have been married for 13 years and i have been handling our finances for 13 years as well... my husband lets me handle all our money matters since numbers make him crazy... i have been recording all our income and expenses, from biggest to smallest amounts (like transpo and photocopy) since day one, just in case he asks where the money goes, i could show my hubby all the records...hehehehe...

I'd say that as much as possible, dunay separate accounts ang couple wherein they could spend for their own needs and another joint account wherein they get to share the household expenses.

this is what me and my wife actually do. since we both have jobs, each of us is responsible for specific expenses. since i earn more, i pay for the groceries, school fees, yaya's salary, vitamins and medicine of the kids, car expenses and telephone bills. my wife pays for the electricity and the cooking gas.

so, if we have excess money from our salary, we either deposit it in our separate personal accounts, and sometimes in our joint account. the joint account is used to pay for rather big expenses like birthdays or purchase of appliances.

the personal account is useful since it cannot be avoided that our parents or siblings sometimes ask for our assistance, and this might be a source of conflict.

the important thing is that we both know how much the other spouse earns, so we can say that the splitting of expenses is just fair.
