Maybe it is a good thing for them because people end up staying longer, since it is gonna take time to find the exits.

MALL of Asia it is not, baka SMALL of Asia pa guro

Who knows. The potential of cebu is great. we have more tourist now (As foreign, Medical, or student). We have a land area, and we have more stablishments now which means more jobs and more people. The competetion here is not that much compared to manila. and strategically speaking we are the center of the philippines (which means we can cater to visayas, mindanao, and even luzon). We have festivals and things like that.
It will also be good for our economy to at least pay for the debt in SRP.

I would not be surprised if there will be a MOA here. Henry Sy is a visionary and he will not stop dreaming for more. Kana kay nasugdan nag dinagko di na na muhuna2 og gamay.

Let me be clear, I am not doubting that there will be a large mall that's gonna be built in the SRP lot. What I won't buy into is that it will approach the size of MOA. Unless people from the rest of the Visayas and Northern Mindanao figure out a way reach cebu cheaply, it will not be quite feasible. Will the entire Cebu market support such a size? Count me in if a REAL IMAX cinema that is going to be built there though.

how can you be sure if not the size of MOA or even bigger? Everything is possible. All of these are pure speculations. If cebu market will support that size? the answer is a yes. Cebu can. Again cebu is already a destination hub. We are already more than 3 million and counting. Again it is a possibility.

Again, let me play the Devil's advocate here. Cebu has 3 million, Quezon city alone has 2.6 million and even with two major malls facing each other it seems that there are still a lot overflowing to other malls in the city and still a lot of would troop to MOA. Metro Manila has close to 12 million but there are still a lot of malls being developed. We are a destination hub yes, but tourists don't make malls. For our three million, will Henry Sy build something bigger than SM North EDSA or MOA? . He will build a mall, a large one, larger than SM City Cebu but definitely not larger than MOA. All it needs is for Mayor Tommy to approve their proposal.

I am willing to be wrong on this one with someone telling me, "I told you so." I'll be proud to see the biggest mall in the country in our turf. But Cebuano pride never equated to superlatives. We may not be the biggest, but we stand out. That is how we became the 4th best island in Asia.

Peace

I could only say this: this is an exciting development and everyone should watch out for it. Sorry if I couldn't spill more details.

Let me add that local business people, especially those with vested interests in retailing, will worry about SM's Cebu plans.
