Interesting! I spent some of my childhood years in Lipata, and I remember my dad used to take us hiking up the Lipata hills and always found ourselves going through Pakigne on the way back to the main highway. I vaguely recall the springs then, before all the development. And then I remember the old carenderia stands along the highway, near the eskina, one of which had a red flag out on days they had the "special" on the menu. What was the special? Let's just say you'll cringe at the thought if you are a canine-loving person.
Of course, my favorite "special" was the halo-halo, sold by a vendor on the corner of what is now the entrance to Tungkil. I passed through the place last year---but I don't recall if my favorite halo-halo stand still existed.
