It does not mean that formatting a hard disk would surely erase all your important files. Formatting means that it creates a new address table, making the entire disk available for writing. So if you have important files and you accidentally format your hard disk you can still recover or retrieve most of your files using disk utility like Norton Disk Doctor and DiskWarrior, so go ahead and try it.

K Mga bro salamat sa mga tubag. actually its a video file man gud. nya na reformat na nako for atleast 4 times. Naka remember lng ko nga na-a d ay ko important video file did2. I'l try some of your advice. thankx

I've experienced this once but I only formatted my hdd once. I fully recovered my files using the GetDataBack software. If your lucky it might recover it. It took me about 30-45 minutes to scan my 40gb ide hdd using an usb external enclosure and no important files were lost.

getdataback mao ako nasulayan nindot bro..portable version man gani to ako gigamit pero depende na if wala na ba naoverwritten ang sector where it was saved.
