I can play most games maxed with the obvious exception of Crysis. I could buy a GTX280 tomorrow, but I really can't justify doing so for the sake of one game (which I completed long ago using my previous monitor). In my personal opinion there is very little reason to upgrade when most new releases were originally coded for consoles.

I don't understand why people get so hung-up about their graphics cards. Sure they make the biggest difference, but there are a variety of other factors to consider such as processor speed and bandwidth, cooling and of course operating system. Create a well balanced system that's playable and stop chasing the elusive holy grail of gaming. ATI & Nvidia are always going to dangle a carrot in front of you, just stop and ask yourself... is that carrot really so tasty?

AFAIK, most games today are GPU based. I merely suggested that your 8800GT will be in trouble with today's most demanding game, nothing personal. GTX 280 was already removed from Nvidia's mainstream video cards....

Yes, I hear that Nvidia needed to drop their prices but didn't want to lose face by slashing the price on their flagship model. From what I understand the card has been adjusted and re-badged. |
