Default HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop Audio driver installation problem.

I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop. Im having a problem installing the drivers for its audio device because when I install the driver, an error pops up and says it cant continue because it doesnt detect the Media Device. I chatted with a tech support guy for HP and after the solutions he offered which were mostly about reinstalling the driver he suggested that it might be a hardware problem. Does HP have a support center here in cebu?

@ cosplay

no, I downgraded to XP. But this is the second time I installed XP on this laptop. The first time I tried it, there were no problems. This just happened now, cause I had to reformat.

@ miel

Thanks bai, I'll go check it out.

edit: sorry for the triple post. how do I delete?

If you are using same Driver the first time you installed Xp then i'm sure that the driver was good, just try ro install first the chipsets before intalling the sounds driver.

Hope this help..

bro, if you're not sure if it is a hardware problem.. try to restore it back to vista and check if the audio will work!

@ jdimpas

Im actually considering that option, I'll try some other stuff first before I do that. Thanks!!

@ miel

the driver is for win XP, its the same driver I used the first time I downgraded to XP which worked. Its sp33566 - Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio.exe
but the hardware thats not properly installed are:
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus - sp35682 - Conexant High Definition Audio.exe
Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus - sp33839 - HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with SmartCP.exe

All of these drivers I got from the HP Website making sure I selected WinXP OS.

miel, what OS are you running now?

By the way, anyone know where I can buy battery packs for old Fujitsu Life Book P1000? I tried Microbagz but its only order basis and its quite expensive. They also couldn't repack the battery.

try daw ani nga option bro:

1. go to control panel --> system --> hardware --> device manager --> system devices
2. look for Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for Hi-Def Audio, right click then disable
3. in your sound, video & game controllers, uninstall the device/s which contains the exclamation point
4. from the Action menu, choose scan for hardware changes
5. install the drivers for audio & modem

i've experienced same problem as yours before but only with the audio driver. hope this helps.

@ quasimodo

I'll give that a shot. Hopefully it works, but it sounds the same as what the tech support agent advised me to do. Nevertheless, I'll give it a try.

@ miel

is it partitioned? is there a separate partition named Recover? Mine had that but strangely after I reformatted the space cant be seen anymore. I lost 9 gb of space after I formatted. The HP Site I mentioned above asked you to choose which OS you would use before it directed you to the drivers.

UPDATE:

@ quasimodo

ako nang gi try bai, wala man gihapon ni work. same error message akong makuha
"Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver"

nya lain sad bai, inig disable nako sa UAA Bus driver, mawagtang ang mga "not properly installed" nga devices.

any other suggestions bai?
