try checking the BIOS and look for how the hard drive is set.

there may be 3 options available, AHCI, RAID or ATA. try to set the sata operation as ATA then try installing windows xp. this is true for dell computers where customers are having problems detecting hard drives in windows setup on AHCI or RAID option.

some new laptops especially SATA disk, if you installed Windows XP with your ordinary CD it won't work, instead it will tell you "NO DISK FOUND"..
so what i'm gonna do now? search in the internet look for the driver for that SATA drive and insert it in your windows XP files and re-burn it using N-LITE program...

its possible that the FAT info might still be FAT16/32 (since you can see it under win9. try reformating the hard drive using NTFS and reinstall winxp.

look for a win xp installer with integrated sp2. this can detect sata hard drives already.

nope! some new laptops especially OEM vista and when you switch to install Windows XP SP2 won't work on SATA it will just show "NO DISK FOUND"
i've experienced this problem before, with the help of internet i found solution in the web. You'll just have to include the drivers of the SATA in your WinXP SP2 through NLITE program.
