i wanted to leave cebu last year cz i was bored out of my eyeballs. i can live anywhere anyway cz i'm a writer. i moved to thailand. been living here for over a year now, and can't wait to go home for good. living abroad is not all it's cracked up to be.

to make life abroad less boring, i dont intend to drop anchor in a certain place for too long...plano nako, when i start feeling that i've had enough from a certain place, i'd move out, live incognito somewhere else and start from scratch...

but dont get me wrong, i have no plans of being a wanderer till i die, coz while i'm playing the role of globe-trotter, i'll be sending a steady trickle of some of my earnings home (PI of course) not only to ensure a happy retirement but also for investments

Although life abroad is not paradise, it's not paradise in the Philippines either. Wala man gyud paradise nga kinabuhi aning kalibutana ba. Each place or country we live in will have its own set of problems. But personally, I like my life abroad. I was lucky enough to live in SF for sometime where you get to meet loads of Filipinos, where you can basically get any item that you miss back home. There are pinoy restos everywhere, pinoy stores, pinoy bakeshoppes, pinoy banks, churches nga mga pinoy ang mga pari etc etc. I got invited to pinoy parties, so I was always eating pinoy comfort food. My lifestyle really didn't change that much, so I never really got homesick.
I now live in a mostly white community where there are very few minorities, but I like it. It's peaceful and quiet. I work, I go home, I relax on the weekends. Wala'y drama. Wala'y tsismis. Life is super simple and uncomplicated.

Good : People working abroad have a bigger salary compared to what they have here

Bad : They'll missed their family, they're doing every chores which they hardly do it here...

not necessarily. when i first got here, i was making just enough to cater to my needs. it was even hard to make ends meet. ang naka lahi lang diri, kung kugihan ka, daghan opportunities para nimo.

this is very TRUE. IMO, this is applicable to almost 100% of immigrants and pinoy abroad citizens.

it's true that living & working abroad is not your typical paradise experience but if you're used to living independently, then that wouldn't be much of a problem. though people here are different from us pinoys, they are not aliens either. though we miss our families back home, it's really up to you how to cope with it. at least nowadays we already have advanced technologies where we can see & talk to our family & friends that easily. imagine living abroad in the 1950's. for me, i am just so thankful that i've been given this opportunity to be here.
