Clippers broadcasters suspended for comments about Haddadi



LOS ANGELES -- The longtime announcer of the Los Angeles Clippers and his partner were suspended for a game following their comments about Grizzlies backup center Hamed Haddadi during Wednesday's telecast from Memphis.

Ralph Lawler, in his 31st season as the voice of the Clippers, and analyst Mike Smith were suspended by Fox Sports Prime Ticket for Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets at Staples Center.

Toward the end of the 106-91 loss to the Grizzlies, Haddadi entered the game. A 7-foot-2 center, Haddadi is the first Iranian to play in the NBA. When he entered, Smith began a 40-second exchange by saying, 'Look who's in?" Lawler then answered, "Hamed Haddadi. Where's he from?" The exchange continued as follows:

Smith: "He's the first Iranian to play in the NBA."

Lawler: "There aren't any Iranian players in the NBA."

Smith: "He's the only one."

Lawler: "He's from Iran?"

Smith: "I guess so."

Lawler: "That Iran?"

Smith: Yes.

Lawler: "The real Iran?"

Smith: "Yes."

Lawler: "Wow. Haddadi -- that's H-A-D-D-A-D-I."

Smith: "You're sure it's not Borat's older brother?"

Smith: "If they ever make a movie about Haddadi, I'm going to get Sacha Baron Cohen to play the part."

Lawler: "Here's Haddadi. Nice little back-door pass. I guess those Iranians can pass the ball."

Smith: "Especially the post players.

Lawler: "I don't know about their guards."

A viewer apparently complained about the exchange and later received an apology from Fox Sports.

The Clippers aren't only the worst team, they also have the most awful broadcasters in the NBA.

the nets is on the verge of making history: the worst start in an NBA season

after losing to the new york knicks and falling to 0-13, the nets will face denver, portland, sacramento, the los angeles lakers, and dallas for their next five games. they can tie the worst start at 0-18. charlotte and a road game at new york follows the grueling western conference trip.

as a consolation for the nets, at least naa silay mabreak nga record.. lol

Nate Robinson's shot on wrong basket angers D'Antoni



Funny moment from Saturday's marquee Anti-NBA Finals game: 0.5 seconds left in the first quarter. New York Knicks inbound the ball to guard Nate Robinson(notes). The New York guard, for whatever reason, turns and purposely heaves a 30-foot shot at the wrong basket. Goes in. Cue hilarity and Mike D'Antoni mustache rage.

Now, as you can see, the shot came just after the buzzer. But still, that didn't stop the Knicks coach from giving Nate a little piece of his mind. D'Antoni was livid. He even stormed a few feet onto the court to yell.

Nate's response: "What? What?"

If that doesn't perfectly sum up the Knicks' 2009-10 season, I don't know what does. -YahooSports

okay raman unta to ang ila comment but some would take it as a racist comments about the iranian. ive read naa daw nanawag sa network who aired the game and complains about the comments of the clipper commentators. which ended with the network apologizing for the comments and the network suspends the two involved. lesson learned...

These two idiots were making fun of an NBA player on live television. I think that's the whole point of the suspension. Shame on them, veteran broadcasters naman unta. But I feel for Ralph Lawler, he's been on air with the Clippers for over 30 years. So grabeh na siguro pag-antos niya sa ilang team na cge kapildi mao ni mangita na lang ug lain lingaw...

Malas pa gyud kay na-suspend sila on a game where their Clippers had RARE win against a powerhouse team. (Nuggets) Imbis tagsa ra gani maka-tilaw ug daog, they weren't able to cover it pa gyud.
