Default Mitsubishi Montero v.s Toyota Fortuner

What's better? A Fortuner or the new montero? What can you say? Let's keep this thread civil and friendly.

This is a constructive thread why will it create gubot unless people will not be civil with what they post. I made this thread because when i asked mitsubishi they said they were targeting the Fortuner market segment which is number one. I will reserve judgement after the montero is launched in cebu coz we own a fortuner and i would like to compare what makes the montero the one to beat the fortuner.

I'd take the Fortuner over the Montero anytime. Diri sa amo, the Fortuner would be the Toyota Highlander - kanang Montero would be the Endeavor. The Highlander is one of the bestsellers amongst crossover SUV's tungod kay they also offer Hybrid versons.

The Highlander (Fortuner) also beats the Endeavor (Montero) in most important specs. Like engine power, cargo space, towing capacity, payload, gas mileage, interior space (headroom, shoulder room, etc..).

Most important thing, Toyotas have very high resale value while Mitsubishi's price depreciation is really bad.

Yup I agree with you as for the resale value sa toyota. Having used a Prado ,Camry ,Rav4 ,Fortuner it really affects our decision in choosing a car. But then the mitsubishi sales agent said that the mitsu montero's target was to become number one and would challenge or even beat whatever features the fortuner have. The only thing bad akong na experience sa fortuner diesel 4x4 was when mukalit lang siya ug off while driving but na fix na hinuon sa toyota service center. The interior lang sa toyota akong na feel now is going backwards due to cost-cutting methods nila but that can be readily fixed. Ang mitsu on the other hand has been improving their interior to the extent of using a Rockfordfosgate sound set-up with sub na Plus their prices are very competetive.

What's the price on these two vehicles? They look like they belong to different classes and price ranges.

I think mas cheaper ang montero around 1.43 m for the 4x2 and 1.58m for the 4x4 variant. ( Prices sa mitsubishi manila) as they are directly competing against the fortuner daw.

ESC: Ambot lang sa pinas ha if they're really cutting corners to cost cut pero diri, Toyota pretty much are in par with everyone else sa interior components nila. They're competing against market giants like Honda and Nissan so they have to be competitive. Ang ilahang high-end trim is really top notch making use of high-grade leather sa seats and panels. Wood Trim, etc...

And Mitsubishi diri hina na gyud kaayo.. especially tungod sab sa past models nila when they had problems with the Galant and Montero (before Endeavor came out) nga daghan silag gipang recall tungod sa problema sa front axle. Karon, hinay gyud kaayo ang market sa Mitsubishi diri. They even got beat my MAZDA. MAZDA's CX7 and CX9 are hot right now.

As far as sound systems - I don't know unsay gamit sa Highlander diri but Mitsubishi's been using Rockford Fosgates dugay dugay na sab. Pero they're using the low-end RF series which isn't really that good. For an extra $500, you can get better after market system to upgrade the included stock system.

@ ezra
The toyota in the us is totally different from the toyota here sa pinas. The fortuner isn't available in the states so try not to compare it to the highlander kay it isn't the same. It is only available sa asia and some european countries. It is made in thailand. The stereos being used sa pinas sa fortuner is oem stereo sa toyota (kenwood/fujitsu) that i can't be sure but the mitsu ang ilang gigamit here is rockford. They are really trying hard to let the consumer buy from them again after their fiasco which got them overhauled. Naa pud pics posted for reference so you will et the idea unsa interior sa fortuner and sa montero. By the way i think the montero sports here is not also available pa sa states.

Same body style man ang Highlander sa Fortuner so I assumed that it's the same vehicle with a different badge (they often do that anyways).. same as the Montero nga ENDEAVOR ang badge nila diri.

It's really good that Mitsubishi is trying to get back in the picture. Right now, ang Eclipse ra gyud ug ang EVO ang halin nila diri.. everything else wala gyud. Karon nga kusog kaayo ang market sa ultra-small economy cars pero wala sila ni apil.

---

Fujitsu Ten makes ECLIPSE which is a High End brand. Kenwood is crap IMO.

mga mid-size suv with diesel engine man gud ang uso karon sa pinas. that's why they are all jumping into the bandwagon.
