RYPiT opens auditions for its 2007 Musical Production "LES MISERABLES"

Repertory of Young Professionals in Theater (RYPiT), Cebu City's premiere theater company known to have performed the musicals "Les Miserables" (2001), "Annie" (2002), "Amahl and the Night Visitors" (2003 and 2004) and the straight -play "Bang, Bang You're Dead" (2006-2007), will hold auditions for its 2007 Musical Production "LES MISERABLES" on April 21, 2007.

Character and ensemble roles are open to male and female actors-singers from 12y/o and above, pop or classically-trained singers with good command in English. Previous theatrical experience is an advantage but not necessary. They must be willing to rehearse weekdays and/or weekends without compromising academic standing or professional career and a Cebu-city resident.

The musical, based on the novel Les Misérables by Victor Hugo, tells the stories of escaped convict Jean Valjean and his attempts to start a new life and make the world a better place; the police inspector Javert, who becomes obsessed with finding Valjean; Fantine, the single mother of Cosette, who is forced to become a prostitute to support her daughter; Marius, a French student who falls in love with Valjean's adopted daughter Cosette; Eponine, the young daughter of the Thénardiers who falls in love with Marius; the Thénardiers, who own an Inn and exploit their customers; and Enjolras and the other students, who are working toward freeing the oppressed lower class of France.

Its Tony award-winning score includes the songs "I Dreamed a Dream", "Do You Hear the People Sing?", "One Day More", and the ballad "On My Own."

To be part of this grand performance, email rypitgrp@yahoo.com, heading : LES MIS AUDITION, on or before April 19, indicating personal information, contact landline and mobile numbers and with recent picture attached in the email. You will then receive an email or text reply with your audition schedule, additional requirements needed, and audition venue.

To find out more about RYPiT, check friendster page: rypitgrp@yahoo.com or www.rypit.multiply.com.

^ Art immediately makes me think of Bart Guingona. He played one of the characters a couple of years ago. I was so enamored by him then that I got his friendster from one of the ushers (who was a friend).

Free event - A talk with Mr C in Cebu

Are you a performer interested to make it to the big time? Are you well prepared for it? Little Boy Productions brings Ryan Cayabyab to Cebu in an interactive lecture on Sunday, July 6 at 2 p.m. at the SM Conference Hall. Get tips on performing on stage and how to prepare for competitive professional auditions from Ryan Cayabyab himself, or Mr. C. as he is fondly called.

This is a rare opportunity to interact with Mr. C, a multi-awarded composer, conductor, and songwriter who has launched many successful solo careers in the entertainment industry, as well as singing groups such as 14K and Smokey Mountain. Mr. C also wrote many memorable OPM hits such as “Paraisong Parisukat,” “Tuwing Umuulan,” “Limang Dipang Tao,” and “Tunay na Ligaya.”

The lecture will also include live demonstrations from guest singers, and aims to show participants the do’s and don’ts during auditions. Participants will also be informed of upcoming auditions here in Cebu. An open forum will also allow participants to ask questions after the lecture. The lecture is free of charge and brought to you by Little Boy Productions. For more information, please visit Little Boy Productions at the third floor of the Manros Plaza, across Fooda Supermarket in Mango Avenue, or call (032) 254-9320 & (032) 415-7068.
