I... don't like it

There's also supposedly a Hulk vs Thor cartoon coming out after this one, but... meh.

DC always has better cartoons than Marvel IMHO. Well... with the exception of New Frontier, of course. That sucked.

new frontier was okay.. but JL unlimited was way way better

the marvel 3d clips was nice.. wala lang story.. just fight scenes etc...

let's hope this hulk vs wolverine will have an ending.. unlike the ultimate hulk vs wolverine comics.

Haha, agreed.

Neither Leinil nor Lindeloff is attached man kaha. I guess we're safe.

Marvel 3D clips? Do you mean the shorts/cinematics for Ultimate Alliance?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Posting the thumbnails I did for my Thor sequentials. I said I'd track my progress, so here we go. I finished these post-it sketches last Friday, but I'm tweaking camera angles as I go along. They're probably not that clear to most of you guys, them having just shapes mostly, but this is how I work.

Click. Big.

And I'm now in love with 11x17. True it still takes a bit more getting used to, some patience, and definitely more focus and discipline, but the results pay off. My details came out finer, and the line imperfections are practically invisible after I scan and reduce it to print size.

Here's one panel from page one.

Click. Big.

I won't be posting finished pages here on Istorya, but these will all be on Border Break when all is said and done.

Hasta luego.

"Random Battle Shots"?! Jesus, John, if you can confidently reduce a thumbnail sketch to just a phrase, Hell, you don't need to do thumbnail sketches, dude. You can just jump into the bristol and unleash your fury! It'll be far faster! Me, I could not but have to sketch something on the thumbnail (hehehe).

Peace.

Heehee... well I only did thumbs for the panels that were directly connected, so my tagging doesn't get messed up. Those random battle shots are... well... random... and independent of each other, so I'll probably be designing them right on the page to save time.

I try to get as much done on thumbs as possible so that I already have a complete feel for the story, but it's not a bad idea to leave some breathing space (aka undecided panels), so that there's still something to think about and excite you as you push forward.

Hey, Johnny "The Man-Love" Love, I got a question 'bout your thumbnails that would lead to a suggestion.

That second page, the splash one, are those flying things I see there some of the dragons invading Asgard? If so, I suggest that it would be creatively better to not show them dragons in that page yet, only their shadows or the wind their wings kick up on those puny humans below. This would heighten the tension of the moment. Remember that scene where the shadow of the flying Nazguls pass over the battle on the fields of the Pelennor when Rohan was keeping the forces of Mordor from taking Gondor?

Peace.

Yeah, those are dragons. The idea is that Asgard is under siege already. That's why the locals are all aghast. They're pretty used to seeing the floating castle, but not the dragons or the structure being attacked.

I'm thinking about reducing the dragons so they don't draw too much attention, and making the smoke (you can soooooooorta see it in the thumbnails) much much clearer. Googling 9/11 images now. Asgard is already damaged in that second page. Hence the civilian audience. Or maybe I'll omit the dragons altogether and just let the black smoke do its job.

Dude, why don't you go ahead and write about what we can't clearly see in each panel? Maybe add your thoughts as to how each panel came about and whatnot.

As for hovering castles and flying dragons, how's this by the great fantasy artist Larry Elmore for an inspiration?:

Peace.

Whoa, cool. It's like my job's been done for me already, haha. that'll be a big help. I'm aiming to do more Jim Cheung-esque smoke effects though.

The commentary will come when all my pages are done, so that there will be a reason to check out the entries on my work journal. Hehe...

Naa koy story for a comics.
Title: The legend of Powerchess
Who could help me realize it?
It is about a King and his people being turned to small chess pieces by a mage just to escape certain death when attacked by the invading enemies .
in the future the chess pieces ended up in a museum where a curious student will accidentally undo the spell and free the King and his men from the spell.
Now the mage wanted to go back to the past and avenge their kingdom from the invaders.
But they carried the present day student accidentally with them.

(OT) I watched Gotham Knight direct-to-DVD animated movie over the weekend and it blew away Marvel's D2D animated Ultimate Avengers 1 & 2, Iron Man, Doctor Strange combined.

Another shameless plug: PSed Darth Maul at http://www.istorya.net/forums/2965236-post328.html

Back to lurking mode ...

Interesting concept. Hey, show up in one of the group's meeting and elaborate on your idea. Maybe you'll get any number of them fired up to take your story to the drawing board.

Peace.

WELL FINALLY THIS PLACE IS PICKING UP.

Anyways, on with the replies. I'll be honest as possible without trying to be an asshole. Because someone told be me before that the best comments are the honest ones. No matter how bad they sound, at least they heard it. So I don't care if you'll hate me, I'm just trying to be honest.

John, awesome Thor page. Looks a lot better than your usual pages. You can see a lot more details on this one. The lines look finer. and like what we talked about, the panels don't look cramped (compared to the Nextwave pages). So, I'm for this new size, I'm for 11x17!!

Soul Doctor, The Legend of Powerchess? Seriously? If I get it right, a mage turns a kingdom into chess pieces (which is roughly a thousand or more chess pieces, a lot more than your usual 32 piece chess set). So he turns a kingdom into chess pieces, and didn't turn them back after the invasion? Hoping that a thousand years from now, a thousand or more chess pieces will end up in a museum somewhere, and someone with oh such great interest with a pile age old chess pieces will "accidentally" undo the spell. A one way spell? Is that it? Mage is like "OPPS I FORGET, SO I'LL WAIT FOR CHESS NERD IN MUSUEM TO FIX IT, K? LOL"

Also, Marvel animated films. Bleh.

Suede's stuff is getting better and better. I can't wait to see more of his stuff. Hey Suede, ask Jobajoe to join us sometime, he's making cool stuff during his downtime at the office.
