@rockart9: Suggest a quiet place please (no rock bands, no girls in mini-skirts). You know a place for pious people like zerk and me.
@all: Who's available evenings? I think vemp isn't on weekdays. Call-boy, este, call-center duties. |

@LS: zerk and I already go to church every day at 5 am (siya sa Mabolo, ako sa Guadalupe). <snicker> I'll be in Manila from Dec. 22 to Jan. 1
so if you're there, we can meet up at Fully Booked's new 5-story building (I don't know where, just saw it in Templesmith's blog about his 30 Days of Nights signing there). @all: I just finished reading Batman: The Long Halloween and currently reading Dark Victory. Good read so far. Tom Sale's art is better left uncolored in my opinion. I ran across Kevin Nowlan's art and thought Leinil was influenced by it (give-away: the lips). Speaking of Kevin, er, I know I shouldn't be judgmental considering I'm not even 1/10th his level but is there something wrong the the female's proportions in this pix: http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gal...image_id=24890 ? |

Carlo, go read Batman: Jekyll & Hyde, just finished reading that. And you can try some Elseworlds stories, like The Doom that Came to Gotham, and Gotham by Gaslight. The good Batman stories are usually the contained stories, branching out from the continuity.
Also, some artist suck as they grow old. They may retain the basic look of their art, but they lose detail, proportion, and such. Some examples of before and after are Darrick Robertson, Howard Chaykin, maybe Kevin Nowlan, and Rob Liefeld. Oh wait, Liefeld sucked to begin with. |

@vemp: Thanks. Re Loeb. I suddenly remembered that he reused the Long Halloween theme in Dark Victory, and then again in Rush (in
search of mysterious person). As for artists' work degrading through the years, I really don't know why. Mr. Vilppu's old but he's still a kick-a$$ artist. Same for Syd Mead, poor guy's hands are trembling in the instructional vid but the finished work doesn't show it. |

@zerk: Quantity over quality
![]() @all: Just watched 30 Days of Nights. It wasn't that scary (from a moviegoer's viewpoint, that is). I think it would have been scarier if they asked Tim Burton to direct it and using stop-motion animation like in Nightmare Before Christmas or even CGI based on Templesmith's original artwork (Off the bat, I'm thinking the movie's FX should have been similar to Mirror Mask's). Sayang... |
