(OT) I'm now watching Episode 5 of the CG Spiderman Animated Series and I've noticed that Peter, MJ, and Harry haven't changed clothes since
Episode 1 (you see Peter wearing his black and white sweatshirt one evening, the next day mao gihapon). Tsk tsk. Probably too time consuming for the CG animators to rig different clothes all the time but still... |

@Junpei:
(OT) I think so. I deleted Disc 1 after watching all 8 episodes. I'll do the same with Disc 2. They should have hired the scriptwriter from the live action movie. I think the series was just a filler between Spiderman 1 and 2. @vemp: How's Hellboy: Sword of Storms bai? I like the art but not the script. I wish the drawings and story were more darker, scarier. |

@all:
from Bob Kato of Gnomon's Drawing the Male Head Transition (from sketching to finished drawing) fast -> slow large -> small loose -> tight light marks -> dark The pencil grips also change accordingly. He also said that newbies tend to outline everything using the same line weight and that results in flat drawings. <guilty me> |

Boy, have I got a story for you, people!
Last Sunday, my workmate Eric and his indie band had their songs recorded at Backyard Project Studio in Lahug. When they arrived, the one who would do the recording (and who seemed to Eric to to be the studio's owner) was hanging out with a friend, who was sketching something on a piece of scratch paper. When the recording began, Eric and the other band members (who were yet to perform) waited at the recording control booth, when he heard the operator and his friend talking about Marvel Comics. He joined in their conversation, and at some point was asked by the friend as to what comic-books Eric was collecting. Eric admitted that he gave up the hobby long ago, but that he heard from his workmate (Yours truly, who else?) that one of the most recent cross-title events in Marvel Comics was "Civil War". The operator and his friend smiled at each other, and then the operator remarked that Civil War's popularity has now caught Cebu indeed, as if he was proving his friend otherwise. Anyway, the operator went on to introduce his friend as "Tom-tom", and then gave Eric an old Wolverine comic-book (with the villain Wendigo in it) to read. As he was skimming the book, the operator then revealed to Eric that Tom-tom penciled the issue himself, which Tom-tom denied unconvincingly. Eric then asked who Tom-tom really was, and the operator told him "Ingna imong mga kaila nga hilig og comics, bay, nga nakaistorya na ka ni Leinil Francis Yu!" Eric is still in a state of denial when I answered him today who Leinil Francis Yu was. As of this posting, so am I. |

Let me get this off my chest first. Bwa ha ha ha! You people just missed 99% of your lives. Now that's out of the way, let me tell you about db and my experience at the Tapas Lounge. - chain of events - 1. I arrived at Tapas Lounge first resigned to be alone. 2. Fortunately db arrived and we had coffee and desserts before the LIVE NUDE sketching session began. I got to know db a little better and I think I divulged too much about my experience seeing naked women in another context. 3. I'm not sure what time the session started but it was past 9:00 pm. 4. I expected that we'll be seated around a guest artist(s) to watch them work but it turned out that it is a free-for-all. You heard right. Patrons can sketch from LIVE NUDE models (two females tonight). 5. db was excited to be there because it was her first LIVE NUDE sketching session (her first time to see another LIVE NUDE human being for that matter). She started sketching (she'll post it later). I didn't because of #4 although sketchpads and pencils were available. I just didn't feel like sketching. 6. So I just went around looking at other people's work. You: Really? Me : Yes, really. You: Hmm... 7. Now, I don't want to leave zerk in suspense. He kept texting asking what th girls looked liked. Pervert! Let's just say, they're not my type. They're more of the type Caucasian males like. So there zerk, I hope you're satisfied (but I hope he drops by tonight so update na lang ni zerk kung ni-agi dyud ka before going home). 8. db got to meet one of her professors. 9. We got to talk to the owner, Stefan. He promised to give me his card but we weren't able to because he was talking to other patrons. 10. Then there was this nice lady who talked to db and guessed why db was in a hurry to leave (300). Her son is into comic books and read FM's 300 already. We forgot to ask for her name. Silly us. 11. db and I agreed that this is the best option for us as a group since we can't afford to rent and hire a place and model, respectively. Just don't expect instructions from the other artists. 12. db had to leave early and I was a bit sleepy (the brewed coffee wasn't strong enough) and I was excited to tell you guys about the LIVE NUDE sketching session. 13. The next session would be on March 21 guys. I really hope that all of the regulars could attend by then. I just can't say if it would still be a LIVE NUDE sketching session but hey, they're just a phone call away - 231 6550 or 233 4089. Others I forgot if we can take pictures of the session (not the model as I assume dili) but I don't think it's necessary. And oh, did I mention that db and I enjoyed our first LIVE NUDE sketching session. - end - |
