You're welcome, man. So you're really hooked on pure digital comic-book art, eh? Haven't met a Filipino all-digital comic-book art pro yet, so that's cool too.

btw, after i viewed SPLATT quick thumbnails (its bigger than what i thought it would be), i was thinking of re-doing the assignment again.
What do you mean? It was a thumbnail drawing of a pin-up page (a one-panel page), which is why it was larger than any of those thumbnail panels you drew.

Ciao.

Well, had the assignment been specifically drawing storyboard thumbnail sketching, faces wouldn't be necessary yet. What Junpei did, to me, was already preliminary pencilling, so was Platt's (despite the inking that preceded the resizing for proceeding to final pencilling). Some artists, in visualizing the size and position of the panels, would even sketch a thumbnail of the comic-book page. This probably adds a step to the process, but is an effective means for us amateurs to learn.

Ciao.

I don't know if they're already uploaded to YouTube, but you might like the "The Comic Book Greats: How to Create a Comic Book" videos by Todd McFarlane and Rob Liefeld, and featuring Jim Lee and our very own Whilce Portacio.

@Junpei:

Don't take the term "thumbnail sketching" literally

@HbH:

I just downloaded 8 *.flvs of Stan Lee's Comic Book Greats featuring Jim Lee. I tried looking for the version you mentioned but it seems that
"The t<beep> you requested was deleted by it's owner or a moderator." If you know where I can <beep> it, then please PM me link.
Googling for it is unsuccessful.

@all: Cross post lang from live nude...

db said Prof. Gabriel Abellana said he's okay to teach 5 students but I still prefer we max out to 8 or at least 6 kay sayang.

--- start ---

@db: Thanks.

@all: The interested parties are

--- figure drawing

1. zerk
2. suede
3. db
4. cmontoya
5. czharlloutte

Let me compute actual cost,

250 x 5 = 1,250

1,500 / 5 = 300

So each one should pitch in 550, okay ra ninyo?

However, I'm not sure about czharlloutte. She didn't show up last Sunday. We better look for someone else.

@zerk, db, suede: Do you have friends who are interested to join? This is a very rare opportunity I personally wouldn't want to miss.

--- end ---

Additional: Kinsa pa ninyo pwede by March 11?

I tried the video search function of altavista.com and rediscovered the suckers again-- they're all here, including Jim's (in WMV format)!

Grab a copy of the suckers fast before the owner takes them down.

Feast!

@SUEDE:

Bantog ra sige ko pangita sa akong Extremely Hot, Wet and Wild er, never mind.

Bai, you are not looking hard enough. The Scotch son of Robert vids are in the GNOMON folder (under VIDEOS or
MOVIES). Search *.avi and you should find them. Wala ko nasipyat <beep> kay ako na gitagsa tagsa
testing inyo mga dbds. Kato nekid wemen, pakapin ra to nako kay sayang space sa dbd.

@all:

Same info for the peps who got the dbd with code SR. Look for GNOMON directory or search for *.avi. Or I think
I put them in VIDEOS or MOVIES because I also added FORCE, Adam Hughes, Jim Lee, Figure Sketching, Gesture
Drawing.

@LS:

I don't chat online anymore. As for scribbling and sketching, I'd really like to do it with newbies like me. I'll bring Frank Cho Women because it
has examples of scribbles. As for sketching, I don't have a book reference. I'm not a purist so I don't know the boundaries between scribbling,
gesture, and sketching.

Scribbling is like this (taken from How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way)

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...scribbling.jpg

Notice that the first step is a gesture.

Sketching is like this (from Dan Yeagle's Sketchbook)

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c3...oya/sketch.jpg

I'm not sure if there's really a difference but maybe scribbling is used when you have time or are drawing from imagination while
sketching should be used when drawing from life (even if the subject's inanimate). I guess we need to learn both.

Notice that both result in unfinished drawings but they're more beautiful than my attempts at drawing correctly. Kani ako ganahan matun-an karon tuiga even if I put
a hold on my goal of drawing Santa engaged in a Ho-Ho-Ho org..., er, never mind.

@HbH:

Watching Todd and Rob right now. Sure brings back fond memories. Maong jackets, wacky haircuts. I wasn't that baduy. I wore a leather jacket, gloves, striped pants and
chain belts just in case I get into a fight. I also sported longer hair (up to my chin). Eeps, baduy sad di-ay. But hey the Spandau Ballet wore clothes like those.
The difference is that they live in a colder country while we sweated it out just to look good. Bahala na.
