@dj, junpei:
Recreate the page any way you want it. It doesn't matter. It's our first attempt to see if we're good visual story tellers. I'm a bit weak. My first panel should have the step-father's hand pointing up somewhere, "Go up b!+{#!". But I'll leave that mistake in for now. |

@all:
I'll just cross-post Hope's reply to my e-mail here (not her exact reply but my reorganization of her reply). I will also not include trivial items. Only those that need your approvals. Figure drawing lessons fees A. P 120 per hour per person (maximum of 3 persons) B. P 150 per hour per person (maximum of 5 persons) C. P 150 per person (private lessons, negotiable) Her questions (Q) and my reply (A). Q: "Is your meeting place a closed area? We may need lighting for certain drawing exercises but for the 1st few sessions, I think it doesn't matter." A: I said that Bigby's isn't a closed area but I can ask one of our wealthier friends (db, zerk, ahem) if we could do it at their house. Q: "Is your art group, an all male group? It seems you're all boys on the picture or is it open for females too? A: The picture she's referring to is the one taken by rockart9. I said that the cartoon character is a disguised female member. However, I admitted that of all the female members so far, db's the only regular attendee to our meetings unless rockart and czharlloutte start regularly attending (ayaw mo away mga inday). She can join us on February 25 but of course only if 3 or 5 of us are willing to pay for her services. Kung tulo lang, then the 3 of us should move to another table (to be fair to her lang ba). So who's in? Photo reference lang sa kay dili pa man ta ka-afford model. 1. cmontoya (I'll also avail of her private lessons from time to time.. and I know what you SOBs are thinking... so don't start). 2. 3. 4. 5. |

@szichri:
Since you're the only one who wants to get his dee-bee-dee early, let's just wait until next Sunday. Don't be afraid to show up because you're a beginner. I was a year ago and I still consider myself a newbie. @all: Anniversary --------------- February 26 di-ay ato anniversary Backtrack ko ani thread to look for pix to put up in Yahoo Groups.Yahoo Groups for CCAC --------------------- If you're a regular Sunday meeting participant, please join http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cebucomicartclub I created cebucomicartclub@yahoogroups.com because the server hosting iSTORYA.NET is, well, you know how it is. And it's also a milestone signifying that we are serious about our hobby ![]() It has cool features like - Photos : Put our group pictures and scanned works here - Links : Put your favorite art-related links here - Polls : Put items that we need to vote on here - Calendar: Put our Sunday schedules and hopefully other activity schedules here I believe this is useful during those "downtimes". Kung naa man gani "nuisance" members, I'll ban them anyway. Hope's Tutorial Session ----------------------- So far none has shown interest so is it okay with you guys if I spend an hour with Hope in another table? I'll join you at 3 pm. |

@all:
I wrote to David of Glass House Graphics to ask when the next Comics Creation Seminar is and are there plans to hold one in Cebu. His answer below. --- Thanks for inquiring. Several years ago, I held a Seminar in Cebu...ad less than 20 people showed up, and not one of them ever followed through with quality samples. My next time, only 5 showed up. The third time, NOBODY showed up. So I don't do Cebu anymore. Compare that with the 200 to 300 attendees that I get from a Manila Seminar, and you'll see why Manila is a better use of my time. My TENTATIVE plans are to hold the next Seminar in Manila in October 2007...a back-up date/plan would be February 2008. The past couple of years have been Octboer, and it corresponds with Komikon...so that's been good. Azrael coordinates my Seminar plans, so stay in touch with him as the year progresses; his Email is azrael@gmail.com. ALSO: If you know enough fellow artists that it would be WORTH my doing a Cebu seminar, I'd certainly be interested in hearing more. Thank you, -- David www.glasshousegraphcs.com |

@cmontoya
i emailed azrael last week and texted harvey before i went to bohol. wala pa jud daw final date kung when ang seminar for comics making. but probably daw october. he will just inform us if naay update since he added my email ad to his list of something. la kaayo ko kasabot unsa to nga list, basta maapil ko kaupdate if naay update about sa cebuano seminars by glasshouse, one probable reason could be that cebuanos before thought it impossible that a filipino, especially a cebuano, to be able to work in an international comics. but i think it has changed today, with the world being smaller and all that. it would really be great to have a filipino and a CEBUANO work in an international comics and be famous about it. kadtong mga filipino nga nagdako ug nahulma sa pilipinas, kay makaingon jud ta nga produktong pinoy! try nko post akong ass update tonight. |

@SUEDE:
Azrael said it's a newsletter. He added me just this morning. I don't think that's the reason. One of the deans at USC-CAFA (I forgot his name but he was a big, balding Spanish-Filipino who wears a crucifix) said he was upset to find out that some of his former students are working in Japan drawing hentai. The truth is that Cebuanos in general are "tightwads." I used to be in sales so I know. Heck, I can't even convince you guys to invest 150 an hour for a drawing lesson (no offense meant considering some of you can't really afford it or others prefer spending it on a drinking binge, but hey it's their money so what can I do). What more for a two-day 1,500 seminar? Pero I'm sure kung libre, wala pa alas kwatro sa buntag, mupila na. But I digress. I think that I'd be confident enough by October to attend GHG's comics creation seminar. I don't have anything to lose and have everything to gain (new skills and new friends and hopefully a sideline doing something I love). Sige kita-kits na lang ta Sunday. Start na di-ay ko gamit lead holder or clutch pencil. I like the heaviness. Feeling professional
