This is the thread for

1.) all professional istoryan writers...
2.) istoryans who love to express themselves through writing
3.) istoryans who would love to increase their skills in writing
4.) istoryan writers at heart

If you are a writer, what is your forte? and why?

say anything about writing (experiences, etc.) and how important writing is in your life...

OT: maybe we can group together and write a journal or something..hehehe..

i once was a feature writer....
by heart, i will always be a writer...
i would've wanted to take up journalism but fate had other plans...
there were times when i thought natay-an nako ug writing
but then, when you love writing, it will always be a part of you..
writing is my emotional reservoir...
i pour all my emotions in writing..
there are times that i am at a loss of ideas
and there are times that at the most unexpected times,
an idea just comes rushing in...
i miss writing...

I've won first place in the Feb. 2002 Essay Writing Contest in Royal Oaks International School when I was third year...

I've written about 20 screenplays, all of which are stale most of which I don't even consider that I wrote because they are that bad...

I think I just got rejected in my application for our school paper in San Carlos.

and I hate writing. I wanna jump right in and direct.

i write screenplays for SineBuano.

OT: MrBiddle: your screenplays aren't THAT bad, they just need revisions.

1. Three (3) non-fictions published by the United States Agency for International Development and released internationally.

2. Eighteen uninterrupted years as 4Xweekly columnist and political risk analyst of Sun Star Daily and The Freeman Daily.

3. Global winner (representing the Philippines) in "Democracy" writing competition called by the State Department of the USA.

4. Wrote romantic stuff "Dear Ana" for a Sunday space in Sun Star Daily.

5. Wrote the investigative "Muro-Ami" which became the investigative piece in aid-of-legislation by Congress when it looked into the muro-ami operations some years ago; syndicated by almost all national papers.

6. At present, I am a part of the Editorial Board for a book publication initiated by Phildhraa and DILG.

I am now retired and enjoying the fruits of my labor in younger years.

Your idea to form a "writers group" is a very good idea. Count me in if I qualify.

Oh, by the way, I am a cousin of Crashburn, in whose heart you reside.

SineBuano,

Don't mess with this thread. It is for writers. This is not for any glib talker. Bring your dirty guts somewhere else.

Sinebuano might not be able to mess with this thread, but being on the public forums, I sure can moderate it. Play nice. Be nice ... before you get humbled by someone bigger than yourselves. Blongkoy, your comments towards Sinebuano was uncalled for and they were deleted. Please take your dirty laundry elsewhere. Replies from pnoize2k4 in response to Blongkoy were also deleted. Keep the criticism constructive.

Vern,

Thanks. You did the correct thing. But how I wished I could tell you the real score.

In the meantime, I look forward to some grouping of writers within iSTORYA.NET as proposed here in one earlier post.

thisbe.ara,

Modesty aside, I admit this is quite a large list. But I did not earn this for a day. It grew as I grew older. In your case, once you become as old as I am now, I am sure your own list will be as large, if not larger.

OT--- Are we talking about the same Crashburn in some post above this? If we are, he is a first cousin. His mother is the youngest. My father is the oldest in their family.

P.S. --- Once we get moving, I will bring in on a regular monthly basis writers like Resil Mojares and/or Jun Dumdum for pep talks. Pico Iyer is also a regular visitor of Jun Dumdum --- and if he is in town, I will ask Jun to sneak him to us for his craft.

i'm not good and i haven't been awarded anything... i like to write and that's that.

thisbe.ara, Blongx: let's talk about getting this going... i need training and workshops... hehehe i need to learn from you guys! weeeeeeeeeeeee~ im so excited... let's talk about this during the EB...
what say you?
reggiebuang,

When I went for a higher discipline through teaching (only for a short while), I used to advice my students to write and write for the wastebasket. This was, when I was a student myself, the same advice given to me by my dear departed mother.

I will be somewhere else in Cebu Province during your planned EB. And I will be out of the country starting December 10. But, yes, let us talk about this group and get this moving well.

thisbe.ara,

I am not worried over anything bad if at all there is one.

I just wanted to be sure there are possibilities we could also be first cousins one day.

Movies, to me, is like eating; I could not watch one without company. Writing is like drinking; I will be dead in a few days if I don't do it.

When we get organized, I will see to it I can play an active role. For example, I will ask some people to arrange for us a meeting with the Tiempos in Dumaguete, literary icons worldwide. In which case, we get to travel to Dumaguete for some fun and then meet some people who can well guide us in writing.

There is also another good writer in Bohol we can easily meet. His name is Nene Basilleres. But, then, again let us meet first those within our reach in Cebu --- people like Resil Mojares, Jun Dumdum, Eileen Mangubat, Nini Cabaero --- all published and are holding responsible positions in the writing industry.

Unlike reggiebuang, I cannot write poetry; my earlier published materials were all non-fictions. A poem is very difficult to write. It is very much like doing a 30-second film/TV commercial.

Let us meet ad hoc even just to explore how to do this organizing well enough that it will not suffer the same fate as other organizations.
