We use a lot of different types of servers. Production and secure servers run FreeBSD, NetBSD and Debian Linux. When we have to get servers up and running quickly for testing though we use Ubuntu Server and/or Slackware because it is a personal preference and I set them up. Ubuntu Server and Slackware are ridiculously easy to get up and running with the services you need. Contrary to what many people might say, it doesn't matter which type of server you use whether it be BSD, Solaris, or even Windows. The admin makes the crucial difference.

I use Fedora 8 based on huge community like CentOS. But that's me. I can use *.BSD too but my server needs are small

What do you mean nga pareha sa windows server? I guess you mean the services offered in windows server. Will there is lot of things can be done on linux. Linux can be setup like windows server.

1. Domain controller using Samba with ldap as backend or using Kerberos for authentication and with ldap to do the authorization
2. DNS using bind
3. DHCP with enabled dynamic dns
4. Distributed file system using AFS(andrew file system)
5. Web server using Apache

Debian - has very positive feedback
Ubuntu - derived from Debian, is probably the most famous for desktop users now and also for servers
CentOS - ok sad. mao gamit namo for production.

Nindot mahibaloan kung unsa ang services nga gusto nimo padaganon aron ka decide ka which OS ang mas optimal for that service. Kung mangutana lang ug which linux distribution ang maayo as a server, tanan pareho ra since linux ra man tanan and all packages are just the same other than distro specific utilities.

In running a server, the most important part you need to have is a good systems administrator, second lang ang system of choice to get the job done efficiently without compromising anything.
