I think the problem has something to do with Smart Bro's DNS servers:

I've been experiencing the same problem for some days now. Some pictures in Friendster won't load, Google was flaky, Steam won't load the default webpage.. I thought it was the new version of Spybot S&D 1.6 that caused the problem. Then I thought of changing DNS servers to something else.
Use OpenDNS
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
