There's no secret formula but here's how I do it.
1. Search for a profitable niche (try using google trends, wordtracker, etc.)
2. Create a website (wordpress, blogspot, etc.)
3. Make quality contents (keywords, keywords, keywords, etc.)
4. Build Traffic (submit articles, social bookmarking, etc.)
5. Update constantly (wash and dry)
Do this over and over again and you'll be surprised about how easy it is to reach $1/day.
Of course, if you are aiming for a bigger fish to fry... better use direct advertising and affiliate programs.
